Men are called by God to be the spiritual leaders in their homes, to love their wives, and to provide the primary leadership within the church. This high calling requires men to be passionately committed to God’s Word (2 Tim 2:15), to God’s church (1 Peter 5:1-3), to their families (1 Tim 3:4-5), and to honoring God in their career (Col 3:23,24).
To this end we seek to provide opportunities for men to have weekly encouragement in practical Christian living as well as in-depth study of Bible doctrine and spiritual leadership. Additionally we seek to help men cultivate their gifts by serving the church in a variety of practical ways.

Man to Man

We offer many ways for men to grow together in service to the Body of Christ.  Below are some ways you can get involved with other men at Grace!

Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David… and strengthened his hand in God.(1Samuel 23:16)
The motivation behind Man-to-Man
Given the busyness, distractions, and isolations of our world, men (even at Grace Community Church:) often have very little in the way of consistent, encouraging, and engaging interactions with one another that goes beyond surface level.  In short, many have little of the kind of godly friendship Jonathan and David had.  Yet, this is the context within which much growth in godliness, victory over crippling sin, deepening of godly relationships, and strengthening in our daily walk with Christ happens. Tackling the challenges of the Christian walk as a Lone Ranger Christian rarely works well.  Man-to-Man is an opportunity to dig deeper with another man, to strengthen one another in your walk with the Lord as you apply Scripture to the major areas of your own life.
The biblical content will be solid but brief, so that the focus can be on personal discussion, conversation, and application of the biblical truths, followed by prayer.  This is not primarily intended as one man discipling another (though that certainly has its place), but as two men growing together in Christ as they sharpen and encourage one another and bear each other’s burdens, ideally in the context of a growing friendship.
Overall structure
  • Men meeting one-on-one for an hour and 15 minutes, 3 times per month.
  • The goal will be to strengthen each other in our walk with the Lord, and, hopefully, begin to establish a godly friendship
  • Approximate breakdown of time:

    • 15 minutes catching up on life and how things went as you sought to apply last week’s topic
    • 45 minutes discussing the topic of the week:
    • Scriptures/outline themes
  • Personal discussion/conversation/application
  • Goals going forward
  • 15 minutes to share prayer requests and pray together
  • Place to meet: best to be somewhere where you’ll be comfortable praying together for more than a minute – perhaps a home, an outdoor venue, car, or maybe a quiet corner of a coffee shop, or whatever other place you can think of.
  • Topics for discussion will be those that are central in a man’s life, including:
  1. Ground rules for Man-to-Man meetings
  2. Identity: My relationship with Christ and what grows out of that
  3. Time management: Carrying out God’s priorities
  4. Growth: spending time in the Word
  5. Prayer habits/struggles
  6. Friendships
  7. Marriage/singleness
  8. Children & other family relationships
  9. Work and/or studies
  10. Lust: dealing with it
  11. Culture: what does it look like for you to be in the world but not of it
  12. Sharing your faith
An important question:
  • With whom should I meet?  If you know someone with whom you click (or think you might) and would like to go deeper by doing this study together, (and they agree), let us know on the application.  If you have one or more thoughts of someone you might like to do this with, (but haven’t confirmed with them) just put them on the application.  Finally, if you have no idea who you would do this with, that’s okay, just put your name down on the application and we’ll do our best to match you up.
Once you click the sign-up button below, you will be sent to the application form and will be added to the Man to Man group which will allow you to communicate with other like-minded men in the church.

Man Up Group Study

Man Up is a group that exists to encourage men to develop deeper connection with other men in the church.  It operates within our Fellowship Groups.  The program places men in  small, nuclear groups and will be sorted by those in the same Fellowship Group you plan to attend. The idea is for men of GCC to continue pouring into the lives of each other with further intentionality and depth. We are excited to offer this opportunity for a Men’s small group and look forward to seeing the Lord work in our lives as we seek to encourage one another to a closer walk with Him.
